M*A*S*H 2026 is a Silver Ticket event 🏆
The last person standing will secure a coveted spot on the NZ team for the World Team Championship in October 2026. Think you’ve got what it takes?

The M*A*S*H Backyard Ultra takes up refuge at Queen Elizabeth Park on the Kapiti Coast over Wellington Anniversary weekend. Encampment will materialise in the paddock next to the Ramaroa Centre, Mackays Crossing - an easy 35 min drive / 45 km north of Wellington City.

Deriving its name from the 1970’s TV series M*A*S*H (a war comedy centred around a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital), the M*A*S*H Backyard Ultra aka Mobile Athlete’s Seaside Haven pays homage to the young U.S. marines that encamped at QEP to defend Aotearoa between 1942 and 1944. M*A*S*H has partnered with the local, not-for-profit Kapiti U.S. Marines Trust, to help keep this significant WWII story alive. Funds raised through the event will aid the restoration of on-site exhibits.

If you’re new to Backyard Ultra - the format is simple. Complete a Yard (a 6.71km course), within the hour, every hour, otherwise you’re out. The winner is the ‘soldier’ who completes one more Yard than everyone else. Whether you’re an experienced ultra-runner or just looking to complete a few Yards, all targets are welcome!

The M*A*S*H course flows across paddocks, beside the coast, along the historic Yankee Trail, down ex-farm tracks, around wetlands, amongst kahikatea forest remnants, past historical landmarks and has approx. 60m of elevation. You can find out more about Queen Elizabeth Park HERE.

ATTENTION! 'Soldiers' must be self-sufficient i.e. bring your own shelter, food, hydration and any other gear you need to keep lapping.

Spots are limited, so enlist quickly!
