OTAGO ROAD CHAMPIONSHIPS - Saturday 27th September 2025
NOTE - Earlier Start Times
The Otago Road Championships will be held on an out and back circuit on the shared pathway starting and finishing on the grass area next to the old Watercooled Sports shop and car park area just along from Preens Drycleaners (Kitchener St) and heading towards Vauxhall. The start/finish area is about 200m north from the Harbour Mouth Molars.
Race Entry Information
- Entry to all races is open to club and community runners and walkers.These races will be held under the World Athletics (WA) Technical Rules & ANZ Supplementary Rules for out of stadia events.
- The Otago Race Walking Road Championships - please contact Mark if you require a judged race walk held under WA race walking rules so that race walk judges can be organised. If required, the judged race walk will be held on a 1 km course on the shared pathway starting at 11:00am. Distances will vary depending on age group – longest distance 5km.
- Championship titles will be awarded to Athletics Otago registered competitive athletes.
- Club uniforms are to be worn.
Team’s Races: In all grades the first three Athletics Otago (Registered Competitive) runners from the same club to finish will count for the team’s race.
Open 5 km walk. This is not a championship event. The walk is not judged but all entrants are expected to walk the entire distance. Running will lead to disqualification.
- Ages are taken as at 31 December 2025 except that Masters ages are on the day.
- Masters Age Grades for prizes & team races will be 35-49; 50-64; 65+.
- All entries are to be done online via Athletics Otago website athleticsotago.co.nz Entries close on Friday 26th September at 6.00 pm. Entries will be received after this time on an additional payment of a $10 late fee.

Under 8 Fun Run - Free
Under 10, Under 12 & Under 14 Club Athletes - Free, Community Athletes - $10.00
Under 16 Club Athletes - $6.00, Community Athletes - $16.00
All other Grades - Club Athletes (registered Competitive) - $16.00, Club Athletes (registered Social) - $22.00, Community Athletes - $30.00
Club Marshals: Two people per club required - reporting time at the finish line 10.45am. Please email your club volunteers to Mark by Wednesday 24 September
- Medal & Certificate Presentations will be held at the completion of each event at the Bayfield Park pavilion (Ariki Clubrooms) in Bayfield Park. Medals will be awarded to the first 3 registered competitive Athletics Otago finishers in each age group. Certificates will be awarded to the winning team in each age group.
